The Good News of Salvation
Have you heard the Good News?
Believe it or not, this IS THE good news that God has sent Jesus, His one and only Son, into this sinful, fallen, messed up world to be the Saviour of everyone, who would trust in Him today! This is also the reason why we have Christmas, Good Friday and Easter Sunday listed in our calendar and why we celebrate these special events.
On that first Christmas, more than 2000 years ago, God sent an angel to proclaim this amazing news, “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” – Luke 2:10-11. This is the good news: Jesus Christ was sent to save everyone on planet earth from their sins.
We are all Sinners.
We are all guilty before God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23. All of us have sinned because we have all fallen short of God’s perfect standard of righteousness and holiness. We will pay for our sins by our death. “For the wages of sin is death; . . . ” – Romans 6:23. This means that the punishment of sin is eternal death and separation from a holy God.
The Second Death
Before you put aside this gospel message, please be warned of this sobering fact: God will hold us – you and I – accountable for the way we live! The Bible says, “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” – Hebrews 9:27. Those whose names are not found written in the Book of Life will be judged according to their works.
The Apostle John in a vision saw this awesome scene, “I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; … And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works… And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And WHOSOEVER was NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE was CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE” – Revelation 20:11-15.
The Bible says that there is a SECOND death, more awful than the first one – the physical death. Those who die without accepting Jesus Christ as their Personal Saviour, will suffer this second death in the lake of fire. This is also called ETERNAL death which is an eternal separation from God forever and ever.
The Good News
Earlier we read about the BAD NEWS, “For the wages of sin is death”. But here’s the GOOD NEWS: “… but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”- Romans 6:23.
By trusting in Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, your name will immediately be written in the Book of Life! You will immediately receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, and you will immediately be spared from eternal death.
Only you yourself can make this decision to escape the tragic consequences of sin! It’s your personal choice. Why not make sure of your eternal destiny today by accepting the Gift of God which is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord?
Jesus Christ is the Living Saviour
We are enemies of God by our rebellion against Him. We are at war with God. We need to be reconciled to God whom we have offended. Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God by His death on the cross. He is our Peace Offering, our Peace Maker; He is the Mediator between God and man.
He was crucified for our sins and died on the cross, was buried and on the third day, He rose again from the dead. Today, He is alive, the living Saviour who can impart to us spiritual life although we are spiritually dead in trespasses and sins. He can also give us the gift of eternal life so that we will not suffer eternal death in the lake of fire.
Receive God’s Gift of Salvation Today
You can be saved right now, right where you are. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” – Romans 10:13. You can receive God’s gift of salvation immediately by repenting, turning away from your sins and by faith turning to Jesus Christ to save you from your sins! That is the GOOD NEWS.

Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner, deserving to die and be punished for my sins. But you love me and gave your Son, Jesus Christ, to die in my place. I repent of my sins and believe that Jesus died for me, He was buried and rose again on the third day. I now receive Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord. Thank you God for making me Your child and giving me eternal life. Help me to live faithfully for You from now on. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
Remember: this prayer is not a formula, but an expression of your faith in Jesus Christ. This is not about religion or ritual – it’s about a personal relationship with the living God.
